Today I found out in Japanese class that when the trains stop, say because of an accident, it costs them on average $50K a minute in lost ticket sales. If it takes 30 minutes to fix that's $1.5 million dollars.

I also found out that if you kill yourself by jumping infront of a train/subway thus causing the trains to stop your family will be billed for the lost revenue. In other words, if you want to kill yourself, jumping it front of a train in Japan is the wrong way to do it.
