There's a popular drama on Japanese TV that is using Rainbow Connection by Paul Williams as their theme music. This version is sung by Karen Carpenter which I hadn't heard before. Anybody know who sung it first? The first version I heard was the version sung by Kermit the frog in the first Muppet movie. Just curious.

One problem with Japanese dramas and music is once they've picked a theme song it gets played for ALL music needed in the drama. There may be a few different versions but otherwise you'll here the song 5 to 6 times in a 30 minute episode. Ugh.

If you didn't know it there's some cool software for making loop based music called Acid. It's pretty cool and very easy to make something interesting though of course much harder to make something good. And, there's a free version you can download if you want to try it out.

I'm very happy today because two of my favorite groups recently released new CDs and I picked them up. Both Depeche Mode, probably my all time favorite band to date and also Orbital one of my favorite rave/trance/techno bands. 😊

Today I picked up Janet Jackson's new album. By chance I just happened to be in Tower Records in Shinjuku today to get the GTO soundtrack for Japanese practice and they had big displays all over for her new album. I guess it turns out it's not available in the states for another 10 days or so.
