I stopped by Sakuraya today and saw that Sony is finally selling an MP3 CD Walkman. It's about time. So far until now all MP3 CD players have mostly been by no−name companies. Most other MP3 players require memory sticks or memory cards which, while they can be re−loaded (pain in the ass) are expensive.

I guess though this finally shows that the hardware needed to playback MP3 files requires just a little bit too much power. The battery rating for the new player is 8 hours on the internal battery and 32 with external. Worse, it only plays for 24 hours if you are playing back MP3s. If you are playing regular CDs it will go for 32. The top of the line non MP3 CD walkman will run for 115 hours on the same batteries.
