Me and Evan and Sakura tried this place out. It’s on the northern Washington (there are two Washingtons right there) and Sepulevda. There is always a line. I’m not sure why. We tried it out and for me it seems like bad drive in movie Mexican food. It was cheap but I personally got a stomach ache after I ate there. I guess I don’t understand the line. If you want Mexican go to Alberto’s or Baja Bud’s.

Are you crazy? Tito’s Taco’s is one of the BEST (fast food) Mexican stands left around. If you are in line and talk to the people in line you will find out they have come VERY long distances to chow down on this wonderful food. It has been around for many a year and people will keep coming as long as it remains there. All the toritillas and chips are made from stratch and all the food has remained tasty and excellent! There aint no better mexican food than Tito’s!
My GOD, are you kidding me!!! Tito’s Tacos is the best restaurant in the freakin world!!! My family and I always go there when ever we get a chance. Here in So-Cal, we don’t get treats that good (except for the Tijuana tacos). I don’t know what you’re talking about but I have been eating there since I was little and still can’t get that beautiful, delicious, wonderful taste off my mind! That place is known buddy, so just think about what you said for a day or two. Okay!
Orale guey, Alberto’s ain’t got NOTHING on Tito’s. You ain’t speaking truth guero. Have yourself a cracker.
Yea, I saw the lines. I get that other people like them but what I got wasn’t any good. Maybe I just got some bad ones. I’ll give it another try next time I’m in LA.
Honestly friends,< ?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
Tito’s Tacos is frightening. What is that mystery goo in the burrito’s? I am generally one for tradition if the tradition is based on wise judgment to begin with. In this case, Titos bombs the pallet and the mind by making me eat crappy food in a crappy environment. Wake up LA! There is better food virtually anywhere you go.
.P.S. The chips suck.
You just like running your mouth and you don’t have a clue to what you’re saying. Titos will always be the best mexican restaurant in Los Angeles so just shut your mouth.
My family and I have been going to Titos Tacos on Washington for years! This is reaaaal Mexican food, not that Mexican American Healthy crap you get everywhere else. I am half Mexican and I thats the way Ive always remember Mexican food to be whenever I tasted homemade Mexican food. Ive gained many a pounds here at this place and am proud of it (hehe!) I just ate there yesterday morning and realized that their meat burritos contain cloves in their sauce. I like that their menu is simple. Their chips have always bothered me cuz you can bust a tooth on them but thats them being real! Titos Tacos Rocks Bebe!
Sorry you didn’t enjoy your Tito’s meal. You must be under 30 and used to Baja Fresh style mexican food. I have been going to Tito’s for the last 42 years and nothing has changed except the location. (They used to be on the Sepulveda side rather than the Washington side.) They must be doing something right because they have been in business with a huge following for so many years. As far as “fast food” mexican, it sure beats junk like Taco Bell or Del Taco; true garbage with hard “out of the box” tortilla shells. The legacy is so strong, wherever I have worked in the last 25 years, I always bring back Tito’s to the office. Needless to say, I am a favorite employee for doing this. Also, Tito’s has the best “fresh” chips around!!!! Hope you give it another try. It’s worth it.
Wow … I have been going to Tito’s for years and have never gotten sick from the food nor do I know of anyone else that has gotten sick! You should give it another try ” Greggman” I’ve introduce Tito’s to friends and they thought it was great. I feel they make the best taco in town for under 2 bucks. They dont skimp on the cheese! I now live in the valley, but a trip over the hill to Tito’s is well woth the buck ! The burritos are excellent as well. I wll admit I don’t care much for there tamale or rice, but everything else is great.
WOW . . . my family & everyone I know have been taken to Tito’s Tacos since 1958 . . . first on Sepulveda & then on Washington . . . and then they continue to go to Tito’s . . . it is a pleasure to participate in such continued family excellence for food & ambiance of West Los Angeles . . . the first stop when we return from our retirement in New Mexico is to have our Tito’s Tacos FIX . . . then we are equipped to handle Los Angeles for awhile.
Hey You are wrong. Titos is the best!! Born in L.A and always had it, ever since I can remember. Now I take my kids there and My whole Family loves it. Now I’m in Phoenix, Arizona and I miss Tito’s and when we go to L.A. guess where we go out to eat TITO’S. Yeah boy that is some good food. MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
Having moved away 20 years ago, I still eat there every time I am in LA. While there is good mexican food in San Diego, nothing compares to Tito’s. I’ve had people that were afraid to stop in LA stop at Tito’s. The lines tell you that this is a great place!
Issacs on Fries St. just south of P.C.H. has the most incredible carne asada tacos you can find and their burritos are incredible too. Very authentic and family run for years. Can’t be beat. Titos isn’t bad but I’ve never understood what all the excitement is about.
I agree. Tito’s is terrible. Turns my stomach too. Paco’s Tacos is a place you should try.
So for the last couple of months, ever since watching Rachel Ray’s TV show highlighting great spots around Los Angeles, me and my lady friend have been wanting to check out Tito’s Tacos in Culver City. It was an LA institution they said. The food was delightful they said. Lesson learned: never trust the Food Network again.
The place was off the freeway and in a rather grungy location. At first I was excited by the atmosphere and the crowds surrounding the place, although that would soon prove to be a negative. The parking lot was nearly full, small and cramped, although we were lucky to find a spot right away. Much to my dismay they were cash only:even In And Out, which has long been an LA institution sans plastic payment, has moved on into this century. A tagged and raggedy ATM machine charged me two bucks to take out a twenty, and already I was regretting this trip.
Inside, there was a line that wasn’t truly a line, more like a huddled mass. People were rubbing up against each other, and lo and behold, the place didn’t even have cash registers! You ordered your food, they bring it out a couple minutes later, they tally up the total on a notepad and gas station calculator, then take your money and come back another minute later with your change. Oh, and they charge you a quarter for a glass of water (the price of the paper cup). We each ordered a burrito, and they were small by lunch truck standards.
They were skinny, by Del Taco standards. I wasn’t expecting Chipotle, which is great but lacks any real authentic flavor, and I was hoping Tito’s would deliver. It was salty and sloppy. Mine came with beans; mushy and wet are not my ideal characteristics of refried beans. My girlfriend was instantly reminded of goat meat when she tried hers…certainly not the flavorful steak we’re used to at most street corner roach coaches. The burritos fell apart under their own weight (keep in mind, they lacked any real substance in the first place). The best part were the nachos, but we don’t eat nachos, so it couldn’t save the meal. In short, this was an unforgettably forgettable experience, and I caution anyone from going there. Tito’s is the product of successful marketing and word of mouth, but in way did I see or taste how or why they deserve it.
I used to live in Culver City and loved going Tito`s. Now I live in valencia and I take my wife and kid at least every two weeks.Tito`s is still great even twenty years later. So what if three out of three hundred don`t like it.Let them eat Taco Smells.
Some of you people have wayyy too much time on your hands (Carlos). I mean, when you write more than the original blog, I’d say that’s pretty much overkill. If you have a sensitive stomach, why are you even eating mexican food in the first place? Also, you complain about an atm fee(and you call it an ATM machine, which in itself is redundant, what’s the M stand for?) You complain way to much…
