The Ubiquitous Swedish Chokladboll

2013-09-05

These things are everywhere in Stockholm.

Every cafe, whick being Stockholm means several every block, every convenience store, I'm sure that also includes every grocery store as well.

No baking required. Recipe below. Warning: Easy to make = Too easy to eat. It's like eating chocolate cookie dough

INGREDIENTS 7 tbsp butter 1 cup sugar 1 tbsp vanilla sugar 3 tbsp cocoa 3 cups Oatmeal 3 tbsp cold strong coffee

Garnish 1 shredded coconut and/or confectioners sugar

WHAT TO DO

  1. First melt the butter and simmer briefly.
  2. Stir together sugar, cocoa, oatmeal, coffee and butter. Set in the refrigerator so that the batter solidifies a bit, about 1 hour.
  3. Form balls. Roll in sugar or coconut or other garnish. Serve with coffee.

Makes 30 balls. Each one about the size of a hacky sack; larger than a golf ball, smaller than a baseball. A serving is 1 ball. (don't go eating all 30 yourself! 😃)
