Check out this game. You never know, it could be the funnest game ever. Note: There's a movie link at the bottom.

Trains are a part of life in Japan. As such, there's a train simulation game series by Taito called Densha−de−Go (Let's go by train). They are on version 3. It's got a pretty standard display. In fact, generally lower tech than your average game on the same platform.
I gotta Gamecube and you don't. Nyaah Nyaah Na Naaa Nyaaa. 😃
This is the first time I've seen one live. They are pretty small. About the size of 3 CD walkmans stacked on top of each other and the CDs are CD single size. Does anybody know if they are regular CDs. In other words, will they be copyable on regular CD players (assuming a chip comes out?)
I think the interface to the system stuff is slightly more interesting than PS2 but maybe it's just new. Memory cards go in the system instead of the controller like N64 and there are only 2 slots. Enough for copying. They look almost exactly like PS2 memory cards just slighty smaller.
Today I checked out Virtua Fighters 4. It seemed mostly like just another fighting game. I couldn't really see any major differences between it and say Tekken Tag Team.
There are minor differences. For example some of the levels have ground clearly made out of polys, not just textures. For example an area made of carved stones. Because Naomi hardware gives you shadow volumes for free the shadows crawl over the polys. Of course this is also true in most Dreamcast games so I suppose it's not that big a deal.
Since the Parappa the Rapper cartoon started here in Japan a couple of months ago lots of new Parappa merchandise has hit the shelves. For example lots of plush toys, figures, play houses etc. Here's the complete list. Also the PS2 game is due out August 28th.
I saw My day off with Tororo at the World Hobby Fair a week ago. Tech wise, it could best be described as a 3D version of Tororo, the cat from the game Dokodemo Issho(Everywhere Together), stuck in the Resident Evil engine except using real world photos instead of rendered backgrounds. I'm not sure how you interact. If you control the cat directly or just talk to him or what but if you are interested here's a short movie I took at the show.
Konami recently released their next music game called Mambo-A-Gogo where you play the mambos. It's actually surprisingly fun. There are only 3 mambos so on the easy level it's not so hard to track only 3 buttons. I played it for about an hour wasting time before seeing A.I.
So, I'm watching "Tonight 2", the night news program here in Japan and they are showing E3 coverage. I guess one game that hit it off was a game by KOEI called Dynasty something or other. They visited KOEI here in Yokoyama Japan but they had masked out all faces from the team. When the interviewer asked why, the company rep said "because other companies would try to steal our employees". That's f*cked UP!! I consider that treating your employees like slaves. If you can't afford to keep your employees and therefore have to make sure they don't find out about better opportunities then you deserve to go out of business. It's their life not the company's. It almost seems like there'd be a law against action like that. I'll I can suggest is you don't support companies that actively prevent their employees from bettering themselves.
Click to Play this game. It's not great but it is in 3D and it's a Macromedia Shockwave game. As of version 8.5 they have 3D support now.
Up until now there's been no *mainstream* package to make 3D games in. Either you had to be a *real programmer* and use a 3D engine or roll your own or you had to stick with making new levels for Quake. Now you can get the lastest version of Shockwave Studio and whip out games left and right.
Does thinking that this video is cool mean I'm old? Whatever, if you grew up with an Atari 2600 VCS game system maybe you'll dig it. From the group Golden Shower.
